My Story
Hi, I’m Audrey Muto - a Nurse-Midwife, Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner, Yoga Instructor and now, Perinatal Coach.
For over a decade, I’ve worked as a Nurse-Midwife, and prior to that, I’ve been immersed in the birth world - as a doula, childbirth educator, prenatal yoga instructor, labor and delivery nurse, and women’s health nurse practitioner. In every role, I’ve witnessed the incredible strength, vulnerability, and wisdom that emerge when someone is growing, birthing and parenting the next generation.
During my years as a birth professional, I have spent the majority of my time caring for folks who are planning to give birth in the hospital. I know that those 15-minute appointments often translate to only 7 actual minutes with your provider. I know that people often walk away from visits wishing they had gotten more...
Now, as a Perinatal Coach, my aim is to offer MORE. More time to get all your questions answered, more space to process how you’re feeling, more resiliency when things don’t go according to plan, more ease in decision-making, more understanding about what to expect in pregnancy, birth and life with a new baby.
My approach is rooted in trust, compassion, and the belief that when we holistically care for pregnant people and families, we are also positively shaping generations to come. Together, we’ll uncover what are your biggest questions and challenges, connect you with your values and inner wisdom, and help you create more ease and joy during your pregnancy and parenting journeys.
When I’m not coaching, you can find me continuing to work as a midwife, lifting weights, struggling through a yarn or needle craft project and parenting my two active kiddos.
FAQs
Who is this for?
Perinatal Coaching & Education is for you if you working toward a specific goal related to pregnancy, birth or postpartum. This could be preparing for birth, starting or maintaining exercise during pregnancy, or resuming exercise postpartum, balancing career and parenthood, etc. You want to spend more time talking to a trusted resource about these topics and your options within them, or you have particular fears or challenges you are working through related to pregnancy, birth or parenting.
However, coaching with me is not for you if you are currently struggling with active addiction, unmanaged mental health issues, or a present crisis.
I’m planning a home birth or birth center birth. Is this for me?
While I primarily work with folks who are planning to give birth in the hospital, if you are in your third trimester and looking for holistic birth preparation, I would love to work with you regardless of planned birth location.
Do you have any credentials? What are they?
I have a whole pot of alphabet soup behind my name! I am a Board Certified Nurse Coach (NC-BC), Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM), Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP), Registered Nurse (RN), and Certified Yoga & Prenatal Yoga Teacher (CYT-200h). I hold a Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C) through Postpartum Support International, and have completed certification as a Nurse Life Coach through Nurse Life Coach Academy, in addition to training as a doula and childbirth educator through Birthing From Within.
While I may incorporate information and knowledge I’ve gained as a CNM, WHNP and RN, it is important to note that I do not offer medical assessment, diagnosis or treatment as part of our work together. For these types of questions, I will redirect you to your medical provider.
How is this different from regular pregnancy, birth and parenting classes?
Regular pregnancy, birth and parenting classes focus primarily on information and resources. With my background in coaching, our sessions will involve elements of goal-setting, reframing long-held beliefs, and values-based decision making.
Do you offer any type of labor support or doula services?
No!
